Julia Böhme – alto

In recent years, the contralto Julia Böhme has developed into one of the most in-demand performers of 17th and 18th century music. Her vocal elegance and expressiveness, historically sourced style and unique timbre are just as characteristic of her as a performer as her dramatic intensity and versatility.

Born in Eilenburg, she first studied acting, singing and dance at the Berlin School of Stage Art before studying singing at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden. During the 2012-13 season, Julia Böhme made her debut at the Halle Opera in Telemann’s Der geduldige Sokrates. Since then, concerts and opera productions have taken her to the Dresden Music Festival, the Vienna Musikverein, Prague, Leipzig, Halle, Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges, Versailles, the Laieszhalle Hamburg and the Leipzig Gewandhaus.

A close artistic collaboration connects her with leading historical ensembles such as the Lautten Compagney Berlin, the Collegium 1704 and the La Folia Barockorchester.
Since 2012 Julia is also part of „AuditivVokal“, an ensemble for contemporary vocal music in Dresden.
