Dear festival visitor,

the management of the Herrenchiemsee Festival will, during the festival, do all that we can, alongside programme contents oriented to the personality of Ludwig II and the history of the island, to bring the courtly routine to life through the interval arrangements, liveried staff and much more besides. We would therefore be pleased if audiences would play their part by dressing accordingly. By adorning Ludwig II's gardens and palace with evening gowns, black tie, dark suits, dirndl or regional costume, you would be paying your respects to this great yet tragic king of the late-Romantic era.

Concert Box Office

The Box Office for concerts on Fraueninsel and Herreninsel is located at Prien/Stock harbour, at the Info Desk of the Chiemsee Schifffahrt building. During the Festival the Box Office is open daily from 16.45 – 18.30h for collecting prepaid tickets booked at short notice and for purchasing any remaining tickets. For the two concerts on 17 and 18 July 2012, an additional Box Office outside Frauenchiemsee Cathedral will open from 17.45h to 18.45h.
There is no box office on Herreninsel.

Holders of concert tickets are also entitled to

  1. free parking at the large car-park at Prien/Stock harbour
  2. all-day travel to and from the Herreninsel and the mainland
  3. free carriage rides to the palace on the Herreninsel from 6 pm Unfortunately there are only six carriages and consequently seating cannot be guaranteed!
  4. free admission to the introductory talks by our Dramatic Advisor Klaus J. Schönmetzler at 6 pm in the unfinished staircase (for concerts on the Herreninsel) and in the Hotel zur Linde (for concerts on the Fraueninsel)
  5. free shuttle buses on the Herreninsel for disabled visitors

 

After the concerts, the following ferries will be available for the return journey to Prien/Stock:

  1. Ferry app. 30 minutes after the final applause
  2. Ferry app. 45 minutes after the final applause
  3. Ferry app. 60 minutes after the final applause (for concerts in the Hall of Mirrors)

A further ferry will leave app. 45 minutes after the final applause for Gstadt (calling in by request at Fraueninsel).

Unfortunately it will still be technically impossible on hot summer days to do anything about the heat in the Hall of Mirrors.

When considering the price of the tickets, quite apart from the quality of the music, we would ask you to bear in mind the services listed above.

On the day of the event, you can, on production of your concert ticket, book an "island ticket" at a reduced price (€ 5.-- instead of the usual € 8.--) at the information centre on the Herreninsel. This will entitle you to visit all the properties on the island, including a guided tour of the palace, entry to two museums and to two picture galleries. Admission is free for the under-18s. Crossing is possible throughout the day on all scheduled ferries. The last departures from Prien/Stock are at 5.15 pm /5.45 pm /6.00 pm, from Gstadt for Herreninsel 5.15 pm, from Gstadt for Fraueninsel 4.50 pm/5.20 pm/5.50 pm ? Exact times of scheduled ferries can be found under www.chiemsee-schifffahrt.de.
